Summary:To enhance the lives of hill tribe children in Northern Thailand. More than 2 million hill tribe people inhabit remote mountain communities on the Thai/Myanmar border. Many hill tribe people have fled war-torn Myanmar. In Myanmar, children are often the victims, with parents killed or forced to fight a war they do not want. Many children in our care have walked days into Thailand alone or with their siblings.
Challenge:We support the education of hill tribe children to avoid them becoming 'early parents', victims of human trafficking or involved in the drug trade. Gaining Thai ID is vital. Without ID children cannot travel freely, vote, access education and comprehensive health treatments. Enrolment in school.
Solution:Gaining an education is the key to Thai ID and a life of opportunity. Each hostel builds pride in hill tribe culture and connection with community. Children learn skills and practise sustainable agriculture and organic farming. Health improves with nutritious food, access to sanitation and clean water, and medical care.
Long term impact:With your support, we can provide effective world-class sexuality and relationship education. Just $3000 gives 50 teenagers access to a weeekend workshop.
Children can advance into secondary school and young people may advance into vocational college or university. These young people are the leaders of the future.
