Summary: | This project is to renovate and re-establish the Maternity Ward and Children's Ward of the Kyebe Maternity Clinic, based in Kyebe Uganda.
The clinic and ward is currently used, but in a state of disrepair due to lack of maintenance funds, and staff are resorting to using sub-standard consumables and equipment. Local mothers are unable to access any other facility, and due to the state of disrepair the risk of complications during childbirth is high. The ultimate goal of this project is to return the clinic and ward to a usable, safe and secure environment to improve the healthcare outcomes of the local community. Our goal is to empower the local community to take ownership of the project and the facility long term. |
Challenge: | The facility is currently rundown and needs renovations and new medical equipment. The local community is ready and willing to help, however the cost of materials and equipment is outside of their capacity. |
Solution: | We will be renovating the facility and returning it to a usable state to service the local community. |
Long term impact: | The clinic will provide a safe and healthy facility to serve the maternity needs of the local and surrounding communities. |
