Birthing Kit project for Ingin, Komea and surrounding villages in the Southern Highlands of PNG (RAOAF)

Description:To provide an initial supply of 200 sterile, hygienic birthing kits from Birthing Kit Foundation at a cost of $1,000 to provide a cleaner, safer birthing experience for village women who would most likely find a secluded spot on the ground in the bush. There, with the aid of an experienced village woman, the baby is born. Given these non-sterile and unhygienic conditions, the mortality rate for newborn babies is unacceptably high. It is not unusual for the mother to also lose her life due to avoidable complications. Hospital births are rarely available to remote village women and birthing kits are a far safer and better alternative to the traditional birthing methods.
