Family
Summary:This project aims to raise funds to support a family in need in the Ipswich community who have suffered trauma, financial loss and unplanned additional expenses after a tragic accident. In March 2025, 3 year old Cade was involved in a lawn mowing accident at his family home which resulted in the amputation of his left foot. He has had 16 surgeries thus far and will need further intervention and rehabilitation including several prosthetics every year as he grows. Cade's family have been severely impacted by the accident.
Challenge:In addition to the trauma, they have been impacted by the loss of half, (and at times more), of Cade's mother's income as she has had to reduce her working hours by half (and sometimes more), in order to facilitate Cade's surgeries and medical appointments. The family is suffering psychological and financial stress consequent to this accident. The reduced family income, as a direct consequence of the accident, is unable to meet their usual needs, and the out of pocket expenses associated with Cade's medical treatment are significant and ongoing. The parents are yet to address their own psychological trauma as Cade's needs have understandably been prioritised.
Solution:This project aims to ease the family's financial stress by raising funds to meet some of the family's out of pocket expenses.
Long term impact:Reduced financial stress to a family who have recently experienced a significant trauma.
