Summary:The Friends of Himalayan Children Project (FHC) is a partnership between the Rotary Club Cairns Sunrise, Queensland, Australia, the Rotary Club of Balaju (Kathmandu), Nepal and the Friends of Himalayan Children, Australia and Nepal. The Friends of Himalayan Children Project (FHC) is a volunteer-run, humanitarian organisation, working in remote rural communities in Nepal. Funds raised from the project will deliver the following:-

1. Provide classrooms, teacher and student accommodation to allow the Batase school to be extended from grade 10 to grade 12.
2. Enhance facilities to attract and retain high-calibre teachers to this remote school which is the heart of Batase village.
3. Providing education opportunities for students in primary school, high school in Batase and to att
Challenge:Currently the school in Batase only provides education to Grade 10. As a result, the children either need to leave the village to continue their education or else they will stop their schooling completely. Also getting quality teachers to come to the remote community and stay has been difficult.
Solution:The Friends of Himalayan Children Hostel in Nepal would like to build better accommodation for the teachers so they will stay in the community with their families and also secondly extend the boarding facilities to allow the students to stay in the village and be educated to grade 12.
Long term impact:Long term impact of the project is better educated students and community. Sex/slave trafficking of the young girls and boys will cease as the parents can now see a better future and way for their children.
