Summary:To establish distribution locations in Indonesia that are organised by established local Yayasan (Registrable Chartable Indonesian Organisation).Distribution guide lines as set by Days for Girls International must be established before kits are GENEROUSLY supplied by DfG Australia Chapters. www.daysforgirls.org Kits can be taken to the locations by Volunteers from Australia. Also donations are required for postage to Indonesia to meet the MINIMUM Annual budget target of 1000 kits distributed to under privileged girls. The postage cost per kit is A$5.00. Due to local conditions in West Timor it is expected that all kits will be posted to this location. Glen Innes Rotary has partnered with The Priscilla Hall Memorial Foundation. Current information is available from www.PriscillaHall.org
Challenge:Days for Girls International distributes with education a special HYGEANE kits with washable pads that will last for up to 3 years .Australia has in each state chapters who fund raise to buy the material. Also the ladies volunteer their time to complete hours of sewing to make each kits to a very high standard as set by Days for Girls International. Our nearest neighbour is Indonesia & limited kits have been delivered because their first language is BAHASA INDONESIAN. THIS HAS RESTICTED & in many cases made it impossible to deliver training with a ENGLISH FLIP CHART. This was ONE of the challenges to overcome. The Priscilla Hall Memorial Foundation has operated in Indonesia in Priscilla's Memory since 2004. The PHMF mission statement is " to assist under privileged Indonesian families.
Solution:Their are families in certain locations who only earn as little as A$50.00 per month. Food has to be the first priority .This has a major effect on girls who each month cannot attend school. Priscilla's Father Don Hall at a meeting of the Rotary Club of Goondiwindi Q'ld.in 2017 was introduced to Days for Girls. The Foundation with their Indonesian past experience was able to arrange & pay for the Flip Charts to be translated to BAHASA INDONESIA. Again from experience three islands where selected where the Foundation has established a relationship with a NGO in the area. The Islands are WEST TIMOR, SUMBA & SUMBAWA. the DfG ONLINE training courses were completed by English speakers who then completed the training in Bahasa .
Long term impact:Subject to annual funding of A$5.00 per kit for AusPost postage & the continued support of Days for Girls Australia the target is to make a difference to the lives of 1500 Indonesian Girls each year. To ensure the administration of the project is maintained The Rotary Club of Glen Innes Evening & Satellite has formed a committee.
